Seven decades after first stepping behind a camera, San Francisco photographer Fred Lyon is still capturing the stories of the city and its people. Although best known for his Mad Men-like photographs from the ’50s and ’60s, Lyon’s reputation also stems from his innovative commercial work in interior design, advertising, architecture, food, wine and travel photography. Lyon remains unwilling to typecast himself and continues to experiment in all aspects of the medium. His story is told in Michael House’s tender documentary Fred Lyon: Living Through the Lens.

Join the Harvey Milk Photo Center for an opening reception Saturday, November 8, 2014 to celebrate the Fred Lyon Photography Exhibit, which will showcase 60 photo prints by the legendary San Francisco photographer. Lyon will be on hand at the event to sign copies of his recently released book.

The Fred Lyon Photography Exhibit runs through January 10, 2015 at the Harvey Milk Photo Center in San Francisco. For more information, visit harveymilkphotocenter.org.
