Several months after the announcement of Margo Dunlap’s departure from the Oakland arts nonprofit Pro Arts, the organization named Natalia L. Mount as its new executive director.

Dunlap left Pro Arts in late May after 11 years. Mount will begin her position on Oct. 7. Recently moved from New York to Oakland, Mount served as executive director of Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse, NY and of the New York-based arts nonprofit FLUX Digital Art Space, which she also co-founded.

In an email announcement addressed to the “Bay Area arts community,” Pro Arts’ board chair Rae Holzman writes, “We are confident that Mount will provide a fresh, new and exciting perspective and visionary leadership for Pro Arts. And we look forward to introducing Natalia to the Oakland community, and the arts of the greater region.”

Pro Arts is the first of the four local visual arts nonprofits that lost their executive directors this year to appoint a successor. SOMArts and Southern Exposure in San Francisco, and the di Rosa Preserve in the Napa Valley, are still at various stages of their searches, as leadership in the Bay Area nonprofit sector undergoes a massive changing of the guard.
